Hello Axel,
I just registered to tell you how great Ignoflash is. In fact, I am using it now as I leave this thank you message. Keep up the good work because there are lots of us out there that appreciate it!

AWESOME!!
I had some troubles installning. But it was only because I wasn't running the program as an administrator.
So for everyone: Right click --> RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR

I'll probably add elevation prompts into the next version. Thanks for the report.

OK, I made the failure to remove ACLs a warning and added an elevation prompt via manifests in SVN. I'll release the next version soon. It will also have a digital signature from my new CA.

Scratch that. I got it to work by selecting "Netscape" rather than "ActiveX". I'm running firefox. Why did that matter?

What am i missing? how do you "run" the patch the file in the zip folder has no file extension... Do i use a separate program?
#16 Okt. 19, 2010, 9:54 vorm.

@eschiesser
Usually it should auto-select based on the selected filename. Did you choose the file by hand ? The files should already be in the dropdown.
@choecn
You extract the .zip file and double click on the contained file.

Thanks for the reply.
When i double click on the file i get a message saying "windows can't open this file - use the web service to find the correct program or select a program from a list of installed programs"
I tried to rename the file to IgnoFlash-1.3.1.exe but that didn't work.

I was having the same problem. I think the file was compressed twice, or thats how WinRar is seeing it. Make .zip as the file extension instead of .exe, and extract it again. You should now see 3 files; the .exe & 2 .dll files.

Verfasst von:

Hmm, I wonder how that can be. I'm using 7-Zip to create the files using Ultra compression level. I guess I should create a .msi installer for the program.

Thank you so much for this fix! I was able to apply the fix for ActiveX which made my IE flash work, but my Firefox is still not working.
I tried applying the patch to Netscape, but received the following error:
Applying patch(es)... Applying Netscape 10.0 Win32 fullscreen patch... ERROR: Failed to find the patch location! Applying Netscape 10.1 Win32 fullscreen patch... ERROR: Failed to find the patch location!
Thoughts?
Thanks

Something is still using the flash plugin. There are quite a few programs that do this, for example the Logitech G19 Youtube video player. You're gonna have to use Process Explorer or something to find out which process is using it. I plan to integrate detection for this in the next release.

I am having a problem with the most recent Adobe update and Ignoflash. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate / 32 bit and Ignoflash is pointing to this directory when I run it as an administrator:
C:UsersBobAppDataLocalGoogleChromeApplication7.0.517.44gcswf32.dll
But I get this message:
Applying patch(es)... Applying Netscape 10.0 Win32 fullscreen patch... ERROR: Failed to find the patch location! Applying Netscape 10.1 Win32 fullscreen patch... SUCCESS!!!
But it does not work. Is there a recommended version of Adobe you could direct me to so that IgnoFlash will work once again?

Actually, the file I was trying to patch was in:
C:WindowsSystem32MacromedFlashNPSWF32.dll
Is that the correct file?
#36 Dez. 16, 2010, 8:04 vorm.
Verfasst von:

The error message is actually normal. This only means that the 10.0 patch failed and the 10.1 patch succeeded, which would be normal for flash 10.1. The next version of IgnoFlash has version probers which only apply the needed patches.
Anyway, what browser are you talking about? The first file is only for Chrome 7.0.517.44 and the second file is for Mozilla Firefox and Opera.

So how would I work with/around this. I'm running Chrome and Windows Vista. Also, I'm not too tech savvy so the more simple the instructions the better hehe. Keep up the great work.

Hi there,
I've been using this fine on Chrome, but have just updated to Chrome 9.0.597.10 and get the error message ERROR: Failed to create a backup of the original file!
Does the patch support this version of Chrome? I've tried stopping any processes that might be using flash so thought I'd check if it was supported yet!
Thanks for the patch though, it's been fantastic!

To fix almost all the errors listed above not only run as admin but be sure to click on each drop down then click netscape then patch then click the next srop down and so on. i have tested this with Firefox and Chrome on windows 7 ultimate x64 with the latest flashplayer and have had no problems. Also the 10.2 beta isnt available for 64-bit yet but does work on 32-bit. Thanks for the download

Couple of people have complained about the "backup" error:

I am having the same problem, but didn't find any reply for this here. Could please comment on it, whether you have or have not any response for it yet.
BTW, I am running Win7 64bits.
Thanks

For 10.2, the problem should be fixed on Windows at least. Can't say I've had any more problems since. For Linux someone sent me a patch with support for later flash versions, which I will publish in git (I will abandon the SVN repo).

Ok, there is a new revision in git that improves the Linux support. It just supports more versions and is more relaxed about the original data. If you want a version added, just tell me the version number and the libflashplayer.so md5sum.

Well done Axel. This is currently the only known method to patch Internet Explorer for this because the other Hex editing based methods described elsewhere on the web only work for Firefox/Chrome other plugin based browsers.
This patch works for IE/Firefox/Chrome without any hex editors/hacking.
Great work!
